I have been thinking over a post I read of a fellow classmate. It was a very thought provoking post that really was a turning point for me. I have to say thank you to Michelle Angier Turbide for naming her inner voice “Polly Perfect.” I even thought of giving that inner voice of mine a name too. 🙂
As I meditated on this and on how I could turn that voice in my head around, I found myself one night in front of the TV with the PBS channel on and Dr. Wayne Dyer was speaking on his book “Wishes Fulfilled.” It was a spiritual moment for me. Everything he spoke about I felt like was directed straight at me. I might have been the only viewer that night. Here’s a brief snippet that I found on youtube. At one point, Dr. Dyer talked about the morse code inside our head. And how we have to change that code. He went on to talk about his power sentences “I am” but I won’t give the whole thing away…you should buy the book. I did and it is a revelation to me.
I’m working on understanding the code inside my head and how it motivates me, inspires me, or de-rails me. I want to give myself a break. The same break I so willing give to others. And I realize that I must tell that to the voice inside my head sometimes…sometimes many times a day. One of the things I’m actively practicing (again Dr. Dyer) is right before going to sleep, instead of letting my thoughts race over the day and what I didn’t accomplish, what didn’t go right, or all the things I have to do tomorrow (which is usually where my thoughts are) I’m focusing on I saying several “I am” sentences to myself. And I have added “I can” to them too! As I drift off to dream land, I fill my consciousness with good positive vibes so my unconciousness can bask in them!
It’s not an easy task as we are so much more critical of ourselves. It takes a conscious effort and surrounding yourself with positive people and words…and sometimes that means working on removing the negative from your life…and for me that starts with watching the words from my own lips, monitoring my friend list and avoiding situations where negativity is the main vibe. It’s true that if your mind can think it, you can achieve it. And the last thing I want is for the voice inside to keep from me living an extraordinary life!
Health, wealth, beauty and genius are not created; they are only manifested by the arrangement of your mind – that is, by your concept of yourself, and your concept of yourself is all that you accept and consent to as true.~ Neville
So here’s to turning that voice into your friend. Be sure to read Michelle’s fabulous post…it will hit close to your heart…I promise. And check out “Wishes Fulfilled.” Most of all, when that voice starts speaking and it’s not focusing on all the wonderful you are… choose to speak back to it, call it by name, and start with I AM fabulous. Because you are.
