Meet my better half, Ricky Stout. He’s carrying THE Ultimate Fabulousness. On a stroll through one of my favorite stores, Home Goods, I spotted this candelabra, adorned with all it’s bling. It was love at first site. I immediately snapped a photo with my iPhone and sent it to my daughter, who was planning her wedding and decorating an apartment for her and her new husband to live in. It was perfect in so many ways…we could use it at the wedding and then she could use it in their new place. It wasn’t hard to persuade my sweet husband to buy THE Ultimate Fabulousness for my daughter. It could be his birthday gift to her.
When she moved into their new apartment, we set out to find something to put the Ultimate Fabulousness on. We went to our favorite second hand store and found the perfect little table. It suited her style and it let us put the Ultimate Fabulousness in the living room corner where all who came to visit could see. It really was a work of art in our eyes! LOL But, as it happens many times in our lives, God had other plans and the wedding was not to be, and shortly following, it appears that there is nothing left of the relationship either.
THE Ultimate Fabulousness made the move from the new two bedroom apartment that they were to live in to the new one bedroom apartment my daughter now lives in. It has it’s own little spot in the corner of her dining room on it’s special little table. I asked her if she thought THE Ultimate Fabulousness made the room more crowded, as it assuredly does. Kaylee said she would think about it. It’s still there. 🙂
So you might be asking yourself what is the purpose or meaning of this post. And it is hard for me to put it into words…because I’m not sure I can verbalize what I want to say here. THE Ultimate Fabulousness is not a reminder of a wedding that wasn’t, or of the love that didn’t last. It’s beauty and bling and shiny and well…fabulous in the most ultimate way. Just like the wedding dress that is hanging on the back of the door with her veil and bride’s maids dresses. It’s that resiliency that keeps her moving forward, that tells her that God does have a plan and it’s a better plan than the one she made. It’s knowing in her heart that everything happens for a reason and choosing to believe that she is right where she is supposed to be. It’s everything positive and good in this beautiful life that we have been blessed with. God’s timing is always perfect in every way.
And in a way, the Ultimate Fabulousness, is me. It affirms that beauty is in the eye of the beholder (as I’m sure some of you will not be as awed by THE Ultimate Fabulousness as me and my daughter are) and that we don’t always end up WHERE we think we should be with WHAT we think we should have. But, (and it’s a BIG but) we CAN still light up any corner of the room we end up in. So THE Ultimate Fabulousness is a reminder to love the place I’m in. I’m here for a reason. And even if God is the only One that knows that reason…it is enough. It. Is. Enough.
Today is September 24, 2011. The day she would of have been getting married. I think she’s going to spend the day with a friend, getting her nails done.
This is the story of THE Ultimate Fabulousness. Have an ultimate fabulous day.
